Repair or Replace
This is a decision that all homeowners are going to face sooner or later. When is it the right time to replace a unit rather than have it repaired?
Six Common Reasons Homeowners Upgrade Their Heating and Cooling System
Energy Cost – Today’s high efiiciency systems can save 30 percent or more on heating and cooling costs.
Current System is Unreliable – Systems break at the worst of times. It makes more sense to replace them while the current system is still operating, thus not having to deal with the inconvenience of a rush decision.
Someone Suffers from Allergies or Other Breathing Problems – We have filters and air treatment products that remove over 99 percent of airborne dust, pollen, bacteria and viruses.
The Home is Not Comfortable – The home temperature and humidity level are no longer properly maintained by the current system.
System is Noisy – Many systems are noisy because of poor installation or installation of the wrong unit for the home.
Return on Investment (ROI) – High efficiency systems that are properly installed can provide a return on investment of 20 percent or more.
System Upgrade Choices
When you are deciding whether to repair or replace, we can help. At your convenience we will schedule a Comfort Advisor to visit your home.
What will the Comfort Advisor do? He will measure the home, windows, and insulation to perform a heat gain and heat loss analysis. He will calculate the actual savings an upgrade will provide for you, based on how you use your system. He will inspect and evaluate your duct system design and integrity and he will customize a solution to fit your needs and budget. Based on your needs and the home’s engineering requirements, you will have 8 options to pick from.
Guaranteed Comfort and Energy Usage Option
These systems are designed with the home in mind. Not just equipment replacements, they combine energy saving heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems with upgraded insulation and completely engineered duct systems. The attic ventilation and air infiltration are addressed as well. From sealing electrical outlets on outside walls to covering can lights, nothing is overlooked. These high efficiency heating and air conditioning systems are combined with a whole house approach to saving energy and increasing comfort. Imagine your home feeling like a beach in the Caribbean when Old Man Winter blows in. Or, the inside of your home feeling like the cool Colorado air in spring when the hot Texas summer hits. That is the environment we can create for you.
Equipment Replacement Option
This option replaces equipment only. It is a good choice for homeowners who may not be staying in the home long term, or don’t need the protection of guaranteed comfort or energy usage. These systems come with adequate warranties and quality installations. If the home’s duct system and attic area are well designed, without hot and cold spots, as well as energy efficient this option may work well for you. Accessories can be added to these systems as needed or required by local safety codes.
There are 4 options in this group:
Benefits Of An Estimate
1.KNOWLEDGE – The number one benefit of the estimate is knowledge. Finding out what is available to improve home comfort, ensure safety, reduce allergens and other issues, helps you decide if new equipment is needed.
2.NO OBLIGATION / FREE ESTIMATE – Our survey and estimate is completely free of charge and at no obligation to you. While we hope that you will purchase new equipment from us, we realize that is up to you.
3.EDUCATION FOR THE FUTURE – Even if you are not ready to have new equipment installed at the time of the estimate, no unit will last forever. You may decide to improve the efficiency of an existing system or the comfort of your home. Either way, after our Comfort Advisor meets with you, you will be able to make an education decision when the need arises.
4.SYSTEM SIZING – Over the years, as more and more homes are “tightened” with storm or thermal windows, insulation, and siding, the heating and cooling needs in the homes have changed. This means the home can be more adequately heated or cooled with a much smaller system. To you, this results in smaller utility bills and even more comfort in your home. When our Comfort Advisor comes out to your home, he does a complete heat loss and heat gain calculation to determine the correct system sizing for the home. He takes into account the size of the home, the number and size of the windows, the amount of insulation in the ceiling and walls, the number of people living in the home and how much of the outer walls are exposed. This is not an energy analysis. The survey is done only to get correct system sizing, not to give information on where heat is lost or gained in the home. When the survey is completed, the Comfort Advisor is able to determine what size of system you need.
5.TOTAL COMFORT – When you think of air conditioning your home, the first thing that comes to mind is cooling. Actually, in order to have total comfort in the home, that home must have cooling, heating, humidification, dehumidification, air purification and air distribution. If any of these features isn’t operating properly, the home will not be comfortable.
6.PROFESSIONALISM – Comfort Experts has some of the most extensive warranties available in the industry! We care. When we install new equipment, we want it to last a long time with as few problems as possible. That way, you will pass on positive words to your friends, family and acquaintances. We make sure that the system is sized correctly, and we offer follow-up maintenance along with 24-hour service.
The Importance of System Sizing
The numbers vary depending upon the source of the study, but the studies all agree on one point – an improperly sized HVAC system is going to be inefficient and ineffective. It won’t keep the family comfortable and it will usually cost more money to operate.
