Is a Spring Air Conditioner Tune Up Really Necessary?

3 Reasons You should Schedule an Air Conditioning Maintenance Service Call Every Spring

With March upon us and warmer weather right around the corner (We promise!), now is the time to tune up your air conditioning system to make sure it’s ready to perform this summer. Even though it’s widely recommended by industry professionals (and even the Department of Energy), many homeowners still don’t see the need to perform a regular maintenance check on their AC systems. So, we put together a list of the 3 main reasons you should take advantage of our $49 Special and schedule a Spring Tune Up, today!

1) You Save Money on Energy Costs
A properly maintained AC system will run more efficiently and save you as much as 15% on energy costs! With an average electricity bill in Texas conservatively estimated at $200 / month, that’s a savings of as much as $360 over the course of one year.

2) Your System Will Last Longer
No one would ever seriously think of buying a new car and driving it for years without ever looking under the hood. Your home air conditioner is no different. It’s a complex system that needs the eye of a trained technician to identify and fix minor problems before they turn into major ones.

3) You Can Insure the Safety of You and Your Family
You won’t believe some of the things we’ve found when we’ve opened up a system to do an inspection. Jerry-rigged systems, improperly installed parts, malfunctioning parts, out-and-out fire hazards.

The picture below shows an example of a bad wiring job. The wiring in this picture wasn’t big enough to handle the electrical load and began to melt. Had there been flammable material in the immediate vicinity, this […]

Message from Brett

Dear Friend,

Wow, what a great night we had this past Thursday at the Golden Moon Restaurant in Weatherford for our first Client Appreciation Dinner!

Thank you to everyone who came out to spend the evening with us! Thank you, also, to the staff at the Golden Moon for being such great hosts. It was a treat to break bread and fellowship with many of the families that we’ve had the privilege to serve over the last 52 years.

Congratulations, also to Ms. Sturdivant for winning the 32” flat screen TV! Pictures are on our Facebook page.

In case you missed last month’s email newsletter, we’re hosting these dinners all across our North Texas service area throughout the spring and summer. Keep reading to find out where we’ll be this month.

The Penalty of Leadership

Last month, I shared with you one of my favorite videos of John Wayne talking about the traditional American values that have made this country great. This month, I want to share what I believe is one of the greatest essays ever written on excellence. Oddly, it wasn’t a paper written for a college thesis or a speech delivered on some important occasion, but an ad written for Cadillac.

The ad was written in the early 1900’s in response to the criticism Cadillac was taking over the lackluster performance of its V8 engine, and only appeared one time in the Saturday Evening Post in 1915. When I read the ad for the first time a few years ago, I actually picked up the phone and called Cadillac Headquarters in Detroit and asked them how to get a reprint. They sent me a copy that still hangs in my office today.

Apparently, […]

Save on Your Heating Bill – 7 Tips to Lower Heating Costs this Winter

7 Things You Can Do in the Next 30 Minutes to Lower Your Heating Bill this Winter
During these cold winter months, when heaters and furnaces are working overtime and heating oil / natural gas prices are at their peaks, everyone’s looking for a way to conserve energy and save money on their heating bills. Well, do you have 30 minutes? If you do, below is a list of 7 things you can do in the next half hour at your house to reduce your heating costs for the rest of the winter.

Ready? Let’s get going!

First, let’s start with the obvious…

1) Bundle Up and Lower the Thermostat
Obviously, the less heat you use, the lower your bill will be. Go throw on an extra layer of clothing, such as a fleece or sweater, put on that nice pair of wool socks, and lower the thermostat by a few degrees while you’re at home.

Next, let’s adjust the window coverings.

2) Open or Close Your Curtains/Blinds
The time of day you’re reading this will determine what you want to do. If it’s daytime out right now, and especially if you have windows with a southern exposure, open the blinds or curtains to let in the sunlight and the radiant heat. If it’s night time, close the blinds to keep in the heat that’s already in your house.

Feel better?  Good, now head over to the living room and…

2) Close the Flue to your Fireplace
Everyone knows that heat rises, and if your fireplace flue is open, your chimney is pulling heat out of your house like a giant heat-sucking vaccuum! Close that flue and keep more of the warm air down in the house where you can enjoy it.

And speaking of rising heat, […]
